News Clip: Shelby County Mayor Lee Harris urged to be 'bold' on healthcare, education, housing

Natalie McKinney was quoted in an article in the Commercial Appeal Thursday, Dec. 13, speaking as the chair of Mayor Harris's Economic Development subcommittee on his transition team.

McKinney’s remarks aligned with a series of recommendations calling for a “Next Era” in the Harris administration, urging Harris to push the minimum wage discussion throughout the county, expand education opportunities, establish a $2 million fund for affordable housing needs, expand healthcare access, and seek conversation and feedback from the area community.

The “Our Next Era” transition team — made up of nonprofit and business leaders, high school students, government employees, and more — echoed one created by Harris in 2018 when he was first elected.
